Dear Conference Participants and Guests:
On behalf of the Steering Board
of the Association of Election Officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina
(AEOBiH), I would like to welcome all participants and guests to
the Fourth AEOBiH Annual Conference and Assembly meeting.
Two important goals of this year’s
conference are to analyse the General Elections held on October
5, 2002 and to exchange information on ensuring the AEOBiH’s long-term
sustainability.
Thanks to presentations of our
dear guests and through professional development workshops we shall
actively work on developing solutions and recommendations. This
will help us to prevail over problems that occurred during these
past elections, which were successfully organized by local authorities
for the first time. We shall also consider new sources of funding
in order to ensure the continuation of the important work of the
AEOBiH.
This Conference will also be
an opportunity to informally meet with old and new colleagues and
to exchange ideas and opinions.
A visual display of AEOBiH activities
during 2002 will be organized. A new event to be held at this Conference
is a fundraising auction in which you can participate.
I hope the evening cultural events
will also provide opportunities for your pleasant stay in Neum during
the Conference.
The AEOBiH Secretariat staff
will be available to you for all your questions.
In the end, I would like to take
this opportunity to express our gratitude to USAID, IFES and the
Election Commission of BiH for their financial and technical support
in assisting with the preparations for this Conference.
Thanks also go to the personnel of the Hotel “Sunce” in Neum for
their efforts in organizing this event.
I wish all Conference participants
and guests from throughout BiH, as well as international guests,
successful and dynamic work at our conference and it is my hope
that you will take pleasant memories of our time together in Neum
with you.
