Educational NGO conference entitled „Human Rights and Good Governance Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina“


The Association of Election Officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AEOBiH), in cooperation with the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES Ltd) from London, organizes educational conference for nongovernmental organizations from March 31 through April 3, 2005 at the hotel „Park“ Vogošća, within the project „Human Rights and Good Governance Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina“. The aim of this project is to establish better communication between citizens and municipal structures with the special emphasis on protection of basic human rights through education and training on human rights regarding participatory processes in public life; as well as good governance, accountability and transparency in decision-making processes.

NGO educational conference is theoretical and practical training of NGO representatives about their role in strengthening civil society and it will be devoted to civil society and the role of nongovernmental organizations as the bond between government representatives and citizens. Educational part of the conference will deal with: project proposal writing, public advocacy and gender equality.

This project is implemented in 16 municipalities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina: Banja Luka, Žepče, Novo Sarajevo, Kneževo, Bihać, Tomislavgrad, Mostar, Konjic, Orašje, Lopare, Zenica, Kiseljak, Tešanj, Doboj, Gračanica and Lukavica.

Representatives of 80 nongovernmental organizations from 16 municipalities will attend the conference as well as other interested organizations from the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina.

British Foreign & Commonwealth Office provided funds for implementation of this project.
